Recipe of the month: Italian meat loaf


A go-to dinner for decades, our Bayard Community Kitchen staff has put a spin on this classic with our Italian meat loaf recipe and we can’t help but let our mouths water!

Feed More’s staff and volunteers prepare a variety of meals each week that are delicious and rich in nutrients and made from healthy, local ingredients. We’re excited to share some of our favorite recipes that our recipients enjoy through programs like Meals on Wheels, Summer Food Service Program and the Kids Cafe!

Serves: 5


1 lb. ground beef
¾ oz. onion, chopped fine
¾ oz. green peppers, chopped
¾ oz. celery, chopped fine
¼ oz. garlic, chopped fine
3 tbsp. ketchup
1 large egg
2 1/8 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Splash of hot sauce
½ oz. plain bread crumbs


  • Combine meat, vegetables, egg, ketchup, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and breadcrumbs in large bowl. Season mixture to taste with salt, black pepper and oregano. Do not over mix.
  • Shape loaf onto baking sheet or use loaf pan.
  • Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for one hour. Should reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees.
  • Let the meat loaf rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Enjoy!
