September food drives you don’t want to miss!

08/22/2019

With the fall season knocking on our doorstep and school back in session, it is the perfect time to get organized and donate all of those summer snacks you and the kids didn’t get a chance to eat. There are several food drives benefiting Feed More that kick off in September and would love to have your participation!

Richmond Public Libraries Food for Fines

Do you have an overdue library book? For once that’s good news! During the entire month of September, Richmond public libraries will waive late fees when you bring in your overdue books with a canned food donation that will benefit Feed More. This applies to fines up to $10.

Kroger and GRTC Stuff the Bus

Our friends at Kroger are partnering with the Greater Richmond Transportation Company (GRTC) on Saturday, September 7 to collect canned good and nonperishable foods. A GRTC bus will be in the parking lot of the Willow Lawn Kroger and shoppers can drop off their donations inside the bus!

Don’t forget that Kroger is also still hosting their Spread the Love Peanut Butter Drive until the end of August. Pick up a few jars of peanut butter at your local Kroger store and drop them at the front of the store as you leave!

 Alumni Charity Challenge

If your college has an active alumni chapter in the Richmond area, they may be participating in this year’s Alumni Charity Challenge. This competition was started by VCU’s Alumni Richmond Chapter back in 2013 to give back to Feed More and educate the community about food insecurity. It has grown to more than 40 participants and is always a good time. Come join your alma mater armed with canned goods on Wednesday, September 18 at Hardywood Craft Park Brewery! Can’t make it on the 18th?  You can still support your school by making a monetary donation at feedmore.org/alumni-challenge.
