School Market Program
Partnering Together to Fight Hunger
Our School Market program uses the safe environment of schools to distribute healthy food to students and their families. Schools are one of Feed More’s biggest allies in the fight against hunger. We can help ensure our region’s kids have the nourishment they need to learn, grow and thrive by partnering together. When a child or teen struggles with hunger, so does the family and our program works to fight hunger for the whole household.
With free monthly distributions of fresh produce and other grocery items, our program includes food items for breakfast, lunch and supper. Nutritious food has proven to reduce absenteeism and behavioral issues and improves academic achievement.
Feed More works to strengthen relationships between parents, teachers and administrators to create a supportive school community. Our free farmer’s market style distributions run from September through May. Markets are open to families who have a child attending the school where the distribution takes place. Our staff works closely with school administrators and community leaders who help us distribute the food to students and their families.
This program currently has distributions at select elementary schools in the counties of Brunswick, Dinwiddie, Greensville, Halifax and Mecklenburg, along with the cities of Hopewell and Petersburg. For more information our School Market program, please contact us.
