RICHMOND, Va. – Feed More this week launched a naming competition for its new market bus, which delivers healthy produce and more to kids and teens across our region. The community is invited to help Feed More pick a name for the newest member of its hunger-fighting fleet!
“We know that kids can’t be kids when they’re worried about their next meal,” said David Waidelich, Chief Collaboration and Programs Officer at Feed More.
Thanks to the steadfast support of the McKesson Foundation, this retrofitted school bus eliminates barriers that kids and teens face to accessing the nutritious foods they need to learn, grow and thrive. Loaded with shelf-stable, easy-to-prepare foods and snacks, along with fresh fruits and veggies, kids and teens can hop on the bus, grab a bag and select the food they want.
“The children’s mobile market, and all of our Children’s Programs, are designed to increase food access to the 1 in 6 kids and teens in Central Virginia experiencing food insecurity,” shared Waidelich. “These programs help our youth improve concentration, better manage stress and depression and increase academic performance.”
Now, Feed More needs the community’s help to name their newest service offering! Now through July 31, the community is invited to vote on which name they like best or write in a name of their own for Feed More to consider. The winning name will be announced in early August.
