What We're Looking For

Feed More is in search of an inquisitive, mission-driven, and hard-working individual to join our Supply Chain Team this Summer! Our Supply Chain Team is responsible for sourcing, warehousing, and distributing food to meet the needs of our food-insecure neighbors.

The Supply Chain Intern will lead a meaningful, hands-on Supply Chain Pillar improvement project focused on reducing inventory errors and food waste in 2 warehouse locations by analyzing current processes & routines, identifying root causes, and recommending practical, data-driven improvements. The intern will work closely with Supply Chain leadership, frontline staff, and cross-functional partners, donors, and agencies to deliver measurable impact.

  • Monday through Friday

Work Location: In person

The Summer Internship Program will run from May 26 to August 7, 2026.

What You'll Do

  • Review and analyze current receiving, stow, picking, staging, and shipping processes for purchased and donated products, with a focus on inventory accuracy and waste prevention.
  • Conduct systematic process audits and observations to identify where inventory errors, handling issues, or delays contribute to food spoilage, damage, or expiration.
  • Analyze available inventory and food waste data to identify trends, recurring error types, and high-risk product categories.
  • Perform a root cause analysis to understand how process gaps, system limitations, or training issues contribute to inventory discrepancies and food waste.
  • Review existing work instructions and standard operating procedures; assist with drafting or updating documentation where gaps are identified.
  • Solicit feedback from frontline staff and supervisors to understand practical challenges and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop clear, actionable recommendations to reduce inventory errors and food waste, considering feasibility, impact, and sustainability.
  • Prepare a summary report and overview presentation of findings, insights, and recommended improvements for Supply Chain leadership.

Objective:

  • To evaluate and improve core inventory management processes in order to reduce inventory errors and prevent food waste. This includes reviewing how products are received, stored, tracked, and picked, identifying failure points that contribute to miscounts, spoilage, damage, or expiration, and recommending process, software, and/or equipment improvements that support accuracy, efficiency, and stewardship of donated food.

Must Have

The right candidate for this job will be excited to learn about the food banking industry and seek to further expand their operations and supply chain knowledge. Ideally, this candidate will be flexible, resourceful, and proactive with strong interpersonal and customer skills.

We’re also looking for someone who has:

  • Degree-in-progress in Economics, Business Management, Operations Management, Analytics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields
  • Proficient with Microsoft products, particularly Excel, and core AI products
  • Experience analyzing data and translating findings into practical recommendations
  • Ability to work with and influence without authority across an organization with a variety of departments and team members at all levels
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to document processes and workflows clearly
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter mindset with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Experience with or knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma preferred
