RICHMOND, Va. – Feed More, Virginia’s largest hunger-relief organization, announced the appointment of Dennis Hatchett as new Chief Executive Officer.
A proven business leader with a heart for service, Hatchett brings more than 30 years of experience in strategy, logistics, marketing and executive leadership across top-tier companies including US Foods, United Natural Foods and American Tire Distributors. He also holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Drexel University, an Executive MBA from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from NC State University.
Hatchett’s appointment comes at a pivotal time. With demand for food assistance rising and community needs growing more complex, Feed More is preparing for its next chapter of innovation and sustainable impact. “This is a moment that calls for visionary thinking and practical leadership,” said Brian Davis, KPMG Partner and Chair of Feed More’s Board of Directors. “Dennis brings both. His operational mastery, strategic clarity, and values-driven approach are exactly what Feed More—and our region—need right now.“
Hatchett’s interest in the nonprofit sector is deeply personal. Growing up in Nashville, North Carolina he has deep appreciation for the needs of food insecure neighbors. “I’ve spent my career building and leading systems that move essential goods across the country. Now, I want to use that experience to move something even more important—hope, nourishment and dignity,” Hatchett said. “Feed More has made a lasting impact on Central Virginia over the last five decades. I’m honored to carry that legacy forward and help write its next chapter.“
His appointment follows a rigorous national search and a thoughtful leadership transition. Outgoing CEO Doug Pick, who has guided the organization since 2012, leaves Feed More with a legacy of expanded reach and unwavering service. Under his leadership, Feed More tripled distributions from 13 million to 39 million pounds of food annually and maintained its Platinum Candid/GuideStar and 4-star Charity Navigator ratings for over 15 consecutive years. “Being a part of this mission has been the privilege of a lifetime,” said Pick. “In Dennis, we’ve found someone who not only understands the logistics and leadership side of this work—but who brings deep purpose and heart to it.“
Hatchett will join Feed More in late May, relocating from Charlotte.
