CANstruction is back for another year of competition and jaw-dropping design! Hosted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Richmond Chapter, five local firms across the Richmond area will compete to build stunning structures made entirely out of canned food and other nonperishable items with this year’s theme, Give Me Liberty.
This fun annual tradition raised almost 70,000 pounds of nonperishable donations for Feed More last year, and has contributed more than 350,000 pounds of goods to date, enabling us to distribute over 290,000 meals to our Central Virginia neighbors in need!
It’s sure to be a fun time for the whole family, combining art and engineering to raise awareness about hunger while encouraging creative teamwork and community involvement! Finished sculptures will be on display at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture through February 15. Best of all, the food items used to create the builds will stay local, and be distributed to our neighbors in their time of need.
