What We're Looking For
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing all Meals on Wheels satellite sites and staff. This includes the recruitment, screening, training, and recordkeeping of Field Site Associates.
The Volunteer Supervisor will also engage large volunteer groups that cannot be accommodated within standard volunteer shifts. In addition, this position may be called upon to support other programs managed by the Feed More Volunteer Services Department at the request of the Senior Manager.
The Volunteer Supervisor will utilize the Volunteer Matters database to assist Field Site Associates, maintain data accuracy, and track and organize volunteers to meet the needs of day-to-day operations.
Service Area: Cities of Richmond, Hopewell, Petersburg and Colonial Heights; Counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Hanover, Goochland, Henrico, New Kent, Charles City, Louisa, Powhatan, Dinwiddie and Prince George as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities for all Meals on Wheels Field Site Associates. In addition, the Volunteer Supervisor assists in the supervision of all individual volunteers, groups, and interns. The Volunteer Supervisor supports the staff who supervise volunteers by communicating with them regularly, offering daily supervision, weekly visits, and training as needed.
Training Responsibilities: Orientation and training of all Field Site Associates, including on-going and as-needed training. Assist with cross-training throughout the Volunteer Services Team. Assist with the training of new Volunteers and Volunteer groups as needed.

What You'll Do
- Supervise the daily operations of all satellite sites, including supervision of Field Site Associates (FSA) and volunteers.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and retention of all FSA Positions.

- Support with volunteer recruitment for Meals on Wheels and other Feed More programs as needed.
- Coordinate FSAs to participate in volunteer recruitment opportunities.
- Train all FSAs to effectively use and maintain the data in Volunteer Matters, the volunteer management system.
- Is responsible for assisting in maintaining the integrity of the data in Volunteer Matters.
- Provide the FSAs with computer training/assistance as needed.
- Submit the daily DoorDash order in a timely manner.
- Support the FSAs in all aspects regarding DoorDash delivery.
- Conducts monthly meetings with the FSAs.
- Fill in for FSAs when they are unavailable. Utilize floater FSA(s) for other sites and fill in if floater(s) is unavailable.
- Regularly visit all field site locations to offer on-site support and aid in FSA and volunteer retention.
- Deliver meals to clients as needed.
- Communicate with the FSAs on volunteer and client service needs on a regular basis.
- Work with Client Services to resolve volunteer-client issues in a timely manner as they arise.
- Is cross-trained in all programs staffed by the Feed More Volunteer Services Team, thus able to lend a hand as needed with other programs.
- Assist with the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Week and Volunteer Recognition Event, as well as other volunteer appreciation events and Feed More events.
- Serve as essential staff during inclement weather events, and play a key role in the coordination of FSAs and volunteers.
- Attend the Volunteer Services meetings regularly when they are scheduled.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Senior Manager of the Volunteer Services Team as requested.
- Conduct tours of Feed More facilities following tour guidelines as needed.
- Work productively in collaboration with other staff in Feed More’s Volunteer Services Team on projects and assignments.
- Provide necessary support to department staff, helping build a productive, cohesive team.
- Work with large volunteer groups to find opportunities to engage when their needs do not fit within standard volunteer shifts.
- Assist volunteers in the volunteer lounge and make every effort to ensure volunteers feel welcome, informed, and connected to the mission.
- Be a positive, enthusiastic ambassador for Feed More, taking every opportunity to promote Feed More programs and services.
- Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Senior Manager of the Volunteer Services Team.
Must Have
- At least two years of experience leading a team in a mission-driven organization
- At least three years of proven work experience or a combination of education and experience that will provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- At least two years of experience as a volunteer and/or in volunteer coordination
- Demonstrated track record in customer service expertise
- Strong interpersonal skills, good time management skills
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and personalities
- Knowledge of the community and its resources.
- Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about volunteering
- Creativity and Innovation skills
- Proficient in MS Office: i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to work with database software
- Ability to meet crises calmly, exercise good judgment, solve problems, show attention to detail, and accuracy
- Ability to work in a team environment, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and work under deadlines
- Must be dedicated, organized, planned, and detail-oriented, and be adaptable to changing environments
- Self- starter with strong initiative
- Strong leadership skills, public speaking, and writing abilities.
- Willingness and ability to work during inclement weather.
- Willingness and ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (Monday-Friday) and to accommodate changing program needs. Must be available for occasional weekend and evening hours as needed for the program or Volunteer Services Team needs as well as off-site outreach opportunities.
- Must have own transportation and be prepared to use it on the job. Must have a current VA Driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must be willing to travel within the service area of Feed More – 34 cities and counties in recruitment and training of volunteers, filling in for FSAs and meal delivery.
Ideally, Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication or related field
- Prior experience with non-profit organizations
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Knowledge of Feed More programs and an awareness of how specific functions relate to programs
