What We're Looking For
Feed More is looking to fill a bilingual, full-time, grant-funded position supporting our health and community engagement efforts across our Central Virginia service area, covering 34 cities and counties. This role, based in our Richmond office, will directly support the Feed More Help Line, which connects neighbors experiencing food insecurity to Feed More’s food programs and other community resources. The call center-based program operates Monday through Friday and works to improve the health and well-being of neighbors both directly and through professional referrals.

What You'll Do
- 85% of time connecting community members by phone to Feed More programs and food distribution partners including Meals on Wheels, SNAP and the agency pantry network to meet their food needs
- Receive and respond to requests for assistance from clients in English, Spanish and/or other languages with interpretation by phone, email, text, in writing and in person
- Provide administrative referral management and support to the Help Line
- Utilize the Unite Us and other technology platform to manage and process incoming and outgoing referrals from healthcare sites and partnering community-based organizations
- Conduct case management activities: screening and following a pool of referrals to determine program effectiveness, process improvement, and impact on patient’s food insecurity
- Coordinate food distribution through food deliveries, onsite pick up, and grocery gift cards
- Participate in limited community events to assist with outreach and engagement
- Other health initiatives related activities and projects as necessary
Must Have
Required:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in community health, social work, counseling, human service, or related field
- 2+ years of experience working within social services, care coordination, case management and/or community-based programs
- Compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive approach to providing support with strong active listening, oral and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in computer skills and use of programs including Microsoft Office applications (Excel) and other web-based programs
- Highly organized, with an ability to effectively multi-task and manage time
- Customer service and client engagement expertise
- Skilled at communicating with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Commitment to improve the health of underserved individuals and families
- Problem solver, flexible and shows initiative
- Works effectively with minimal supervision, as well as within a team environment
Ideally, Will Have
- Experience providing brief support and assistance to individuals in crisis
- 1+ years of experience in program coordination
- 1+ years of experience coordinating, supervising, or supporting volunteers and/or staff
- Familiar with the Central Virginia community and available resources
- Knowledge of food bank programs and SNAP benefits
- Interest and experience in addressing social and health inequities
