What We're Looking For

The Development & Stewardship Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to the Development team while also managing a small portfolio of mid-major donors. This role ensures the team runs smoothly, donor records are accurate, and stewardship activities are executed effectively.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with the ability to balance behind-the-scenes administrative work and donor-facing relationship management. Many administrative tasks directly support stewardship efforts, ensuring donors have a meaningful and seamless experience with Feed More.

What You'll Do

Administrative & Operational Support – 50%

This role is heavily administrative and ensures the Development team functions smoothly and efficiently. Many of these tasks directly support donor stewardship activities.

  • Serve as a backup for the Development Assistant to ensure timely gift entry, acknowledgements, and reporting.
  • Maintain organized systems and processes in concert with the Development Assistant to streamline gift processing, acknowledgements, and donor stewardship activities.
  • Manage donor data and generate reports to support donor strategy and decision-making.
  • Assist with the coordination of large group volunteer activities and a summer development intern.

Donor Relationships & Stewardship – 45%

While administrative tasks are the priority, this position also manages a small portfolio of mid-major level donors to deepen engagement and ensure high-quality stewardship.

  • Manage a small portfolio of mid-major donors with personalized outreach and relationship management, focusing on renewing support from lapsed donors and helping to increase donor giving through personal outreach.
  • Conduct thank-you calls, send customized follow-ups, and provide impact updates to donors.
  • Prepare donor meeting materials, profiles, and background research for cultivation efforts.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop stewardship communications.
  • Track donor engagement activities in RENXT to ensure accurate, up-to-date records.

Events – 5%

  • Support donor events such as small receptions, appreciation gatherings, and on-site visits.
  • Manage logistics, including RSVPs, donor profiles, and post-event follow-up communications.

Must Have

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Some experience in fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development, or a related field is helpful, but not required. We welcome candidates who are enthusiastic and eager to learn, develop their skills, and grow in the role.
  • Comfort using technology and willingness to learn donor databases (RENXT preferred) and other development tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong donor service mindset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all work.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and adapt communication styles as needed.
  • Comfort with data entry, reporting, and analysis to support development strategies.
  • Proactive problem-solver who takes initiative and works well independently.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a mission-driven environment.
