Adult Volunteers

Requirements & Responsibilities of ALL Volunteer Positions:

• Knowledge of FeedMore’s mission and understanding of its various comprehensive programs, including Meals on Wheels, the Central Virginia Food Bank, Kids Cafe, Mobile Pantry, Summer Food Service Program and weekend BackPack program, to name a few.
• Attend mandatory volunteer orientation and training prior to your first day as a volunteer.
• Complete food handling and food safety training and be knowledgeable about such procedures related to the Community Kitchen.
• Arrive on time for, and stay for the entirety of, your volunteer shift.
• Keep staff informed of schedule changes or cancelations, especially last minute changes.
• A commitment of at least TWO shifts per month.
• Patience, flexibility and a friendly, fun-loving disposition are a plus!

FeedMore Administrative Offices

General Office Duties – lend a helping hand with our programs and/or departments at FeedMore tackling everything from data base entry to stuffing envelopes to answering phone calls.
Hunger Hotline/Food Referral Program – geared towards volunteers who are 21 and older with a strong customer service background, these folks take phone calls and help connect people in need of emergency food with a nearby partner agency or pantry.
Meals on Wheels Client Services – volunteers answer phone calls from Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers and clients during meal delivery time, helping troubleshoot any issues and providing appropriate response to various situations.

FeedMore’s Children’s Nutrition Programs

BackPack Administrative Assistant – provide much needed help with specific administrative duties that may include data entry, assisting with weekly phone calls to agencies and volunteers for the BackPack program.
BackPack Packers – help assemble 2,000 bags each week that are filled with wholesome food for nutritious meals for children at risk of weekend hunger.
BackPack Drivers – volunteers deliver BackPack to local schools across our region including the City of Richmond, City of Petersburg, Hopewell, Chesterfield and Henrico counties.
Healthy Snack Packers and Delivery Drivers – volunteers assemble snacks and deliver them to schools throughout the year. There are individual opportunities for snack packing and individual and group opportunities for deliveries.
Summer Food Service Program Packers and Delivery Drivers – volunteers assemble snacks and breakfast items and deliver them to schools during the summer months. There are individual opportunities for snack packing and individual and group opportunities for deliveries.

FeedMore’s Community Kitchen

Meal Packaging Assistant – package our cooked-from-scratch Meals on Wheels meals in our bright and vibrant kitchen facility.
Meal Preparation Assistant – chop fresh produce, assemble the ingredients for our home-cooked recipes and prepare meals and snacks alongside our talented, dedicated and fun-loving kitchen staff.

FeedMore’s Distribution Center/Central Virginia Food Bank

Food Sorters – sort donations including canned and boxed food items, as well as perishable products including fruit, vegetables, eggs and bread.

FeedMore’s Senior Feeding Programs

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) Packers – volunteers will work together on an assembly line, packing nonperishable food items into boxes that will be distributed to low-income seniors in our community.
Meals on Wheels Driver – hand delivering nutritious meals to our homebound seniors and disabled neighbors. Pre-determined routes average approximately 12 stops and cover about 15 miles at the most, depending on locality.
Meals on Wheels Packers and Loaders – sort and pack our made-from-scratch meals into cooler for our volunteer drivers.
