Summertime has officially begun, and while it’s a cherished time of year for kids and teens all across Central Virginia, for many, it can also be a time of great stress. One in seven children in our community is food insecure and when school ends, so do the programs that provide these youth with free and reduced lunch services during the school year.
Thanks to Feed More, there are places our region’s kids and teens can turn to during the hungry days of summer!
Feed More’s Summer Food Service Program was designed specifically to help ensure kids and teens have access to healthy meals year round. Throughout the months of June, July and August, free breakfast and lunch meals will be served at more than 50 sites across our service area!
Meals are made fresh by our talented staff and dedicated volunteers in our Bayard Community Kitchen and include summer favorites like hamburgers and hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, fresh fruits and lots of delicious vegetables that will make any parent happy!
Our Summer Food Service Program sites are open to any kid or teen, 18 years and younger, no questions asked. If you or someone you know could benefit from this vital program, please visit our Summer Food Service Program page.
