This month at Feed More: October 2018

10/02/2018

It’s finally fall, and with the arrival of cooler temperatures comes some wonderful events happening around our community. You and your family are sure to find a few to enjoy while also helping us in our hunger-fighting efforts!

Enjoy a few drinks while making a difference at Fine Creek Brewing Company on Thursday, October 4! With 15 percent of all sales that evening donated to Feed More, this is a delicious opportunity to make a difference.

If you’re in the mood to laugh, don’t miss celebrity comedian, Chris Spencer, performing at Maria’s Old Town 21 in Petersburg on Friday, October 19! A portion of all ticket sales will benefit our programs at Feed More.

It’s back! Richmond Restaurant Week returns October 22 – 28 with participating restaurants throughout the greater Richmond area offering a three-course price fixed menu all week for $29.18 per person. This is a great opportunity to enjoy your favorite spot, and to try new places, because on top of the great dining deal, participating restaurants donate $4.18 from each meal to help us feed more!

The GreenSpring American Youth Harp Ensemble and Virginia Choristers are pleased to present Music Feeds RVA on Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m. This concert will feature more than 50 performers from age seven to 18. Admission is a nonperishable food item or a cash donation, all benefiting Feed More!

Be on the lookout for the boy scouts in your neighborhood on Saturday, October 27 during Scouting for Food! Scouts will deliver empty bags to doorsteps throughout the Richmond Tri-cities area on Saturday, October 27.  Fill your bag up with nonperishable food you’d like to donate and the scouts will return on Saturday, November 3 to collect your filled bags!

If you’re not able to make it out to an event this month but are still interested in helping, please consider becoming a Community Champion by hosting an online fundraiser!

You can also organize a food drive and collect some of our most needed items to help our neighbors in need. Head on over to our Food Drive page to learn more and check out our toolkit that will help you spread the word!

Hunger is a year round issue and with your support, we’re able to provide families in need with a hand up all year long.
