This month at Feed More: August 2019

08/01/2019

It’s hard to believe that it is the last full month of summer- where has the time gone?! Enjoy the last few weeks of vacation and the summer heat by taking part in some of the fun events around Richmond this month that give back to Feed More.

Calling craft beer lovers! Bow Tied Weddings and Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery- Shockoe Bottom will once again team up to create a small batch of beer – Seersucker Shandy – to help Feed More. All proceeds from this tasty brew will go towards our programs that help fight hunger across Central Virginia. Don’t miss this fun event on Friday, August 2!

CANstruction is back for another year of competition and jaw-dropping design! Hosted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Richmond Chapter, firms across the Richmond area will compete to build stunning structures made entirely out of full cans of food. This year’s theme is Virginia historical places and it’s sure to be a fun time for the whole family! Finished displays will be available for the public to view starting August 10 – 24 at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and you can vote on your favorite creation through August 21 at https://bit.ly/2N5ST9g.

Don’t forget, Hunger Action Month begins September 1 and will run the entire month! Keep checking our social media channels for more information on ways you can participate.

If you’re not able to make it out to an event this month but are still interested in helping, please consider becoming a Community Champion by hosting an online fundraiser!

You can also organize a food drive and collect some of our most needed items to help our neighbors in need. Head on over to our Food Drive page to learn more and check out our toolkit that will help you spread the word!

Hunger is a year round issue and with your support, we’re able to provide families in need with a hand up all year long.
