Service Enterprise Designation Recognizes FeedMore’s Volunteer Engagement

05/10/2016

FeedMore recently announced that it has been certified as a Service Enterprise by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. This prestigious designation recognizes FeedMore as an organization that fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills to successfully deliver on its social mission.

“Less than 15 percent of non-profits nationwide can be characterized as Service Enterprises,” said Marycatherine Savage, Chief Human Resource Officer at FeedMore. “This is a significant and noteworthy accomplishment.”

To be certified as a Service Enterprise, FeedMore had to demonstrate that it is a high-performing organization that has thoroughly integrated volunteers into its strategic plan and organizational infrastructure. By achieving this level of excellence and certification, FeedMore is now better equipped to leverage the time and talent of volunteers.

FeedMore is also well positioned and equipped to engage volunteers and their skills to more effectively and efficiently deliver on its mission of fighting hunger in Central Virginia. Additionally, volunteers are deeply integrated into FeedMore’s strategic plan and have a well-developed human capital strategy, enabling FeedMore to maximize resources to build the capacity necessary to maintain and increase services to the community.

“This allows us to reduce costs and increase efficiency and effectiveness in delivering on our promises to all our constituencies,” said Savage. “Our engagement of volunteers makes us more adaptable and ensures the sustainability of our current and future programs.”
