As part of its commitment to fight hunger in its communities, Perdue Farms donated 2,950 chicken roasters to Feed More to help brighten the holidays for thousands of families across Central Virginia.
“We are extremely grateful to have Perdue Farms standing beside us in the fight against hunger,” said Tim McDermott, Chief Development Officer at Feed More. “Perdue Farms’ extraordinary, continuous support of our mission through the millions of pounds of donated sustainable, nutritious protein provides healthy sustenance to our neighbors in their times of need.”
These roasters are distributed throughout the month of December at special Richmond Christmas Mother Mobile Pantries and through Feed More’s Agency Network. Perdue associates from their Mid-Atlantic Replenishment Center (MARC) in Prince George County are also volunteering at the Prince George County Churches Outreach distribution on Friday, December 13 to spread even more holiday cheer to those in need.
“At Perdue, we are committed to helping those struggling with hunger within our communities in which we work and live, and that includes here in Central Virginia,” said Dan Stein, Perdue Director of Operations in Prince George. “The Prince George Churches Outreach and Feed More helps individuals and families where they are and addresses their food insecurity issue. We’re proud to partner with them again this year to deliver a little hope to our neighbors.”
Perdue and Feed More have been partners in the fight against hunger for more than two decades and together have helped the more than 193,000 individuals in Central Virginia who struggle with hunger. Over the course of the partnership, Perdue has donated millions of pounds of no-antibiotics-ever chicken, freezer and refrigeration equipment and additional funding to help Feed More and its Agency Network purchase fresh produce.
“The continued investment Perdue makes in the communities we serve can be felt during the holiday season, and throughout the year,” said McDermott. “We are honored, and humbled, to celebrate in the joy of giving with the compassionate team at Perdue Farms.”
