FeedMore’s Summer Food Service Program Fights Summer Hunger

06/12/2017

FeedMore’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) will once again be providing free breakfast and lunch meals to thousands of children and teens this summer across greater Richmond. Created to ensure that kids and teens of low-income households continue to receive meals during the summer when school is not in session, FeedMore’s SFSP provides well-balanced meals during the week to children and teens, 18 years and younger, free of charge.

“Our continued participation in the Summer Food Service Program allows us to provide thousands of healthy meals to children and teens who struggle with hunger,” said Ruth Ann Caplice, Children’s Nutrition Program Manager at FeedMore. “This program helps ensure our region’s kids and teens grow and develop with the nutrition they need to be successful when the next school year begins in the fall.”

SFSP meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all kids and teens. Last summer, FeedMore provided over 134,478 breakfast and lunch meals to more than 1,700 children across the region.
