FeedMore Fights Hunger with Child and Adult Care Food Program

09/05/2017

FeedMore, Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization, will once again sponsor the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP or Kids Cafe program) to provide snacks and healthy meals to children and teens at afterschool programs and community centers throughout greater Richmond and the Tri-cities. With Kids Cafe sites located in some of the most impoverished communities in the region, in addition to a healthy meal, these programs also offer students mentoring, tutoring, cultural enrichment and social activities.

“Our continued participation in the Kids Cafe program allows us to provide thousands of healthy meals to the thousands of children in our community who aren’t receiving the necessary nutrition,” said Ruth Ann Caplice, Children’s Nutrition Program Manager at FeedMore. “Prepared by our wonderful Community Kitchen staff and volunteers, the snacks and cooked-from-scratch meals focus on nutrition and provide kids with healthy, fun options that they enjoy.”

The same meals will be available at no separate separate charge to all participants at each CACFP facility without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation.
