Name:  Julie Leatherman

What do you do here at Feed More? I am the Chief Financial Officer and am responsible for all our Finance and Information Technology departments.

How long have you worked at FeedMore?  I began in April of 2014; almost five years!

What is your favorite memory at Feed More? My favorite time is the annual employee holiday lunch. I love the gathering of everyone from all over Feed More to this event. The white elephant gift exchange is so much fun and I love that we all take the time to be together!

What inspired you to come work at Feed More? After working in the for profit world for my entire career I finally hit the wall. I needed a greater meaning and purpose than working to increase shareholder value. I felt the need to find work that was more fulfilling and someplace that I could make a meaningful difference. After volunteering in the kitchen and meeting the folks at Feed More, I knew this opportunity was the one for me.

Before working at Feed More, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had? During high school and college I worked at a local radio station that had both AM and an FM format. It was a fun and crazy place. The folks that work in radio have interesting personalities making every day a new adventure.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I have a culinary certificate from the University of Richmond and love to cook when I have the time.

Where is the coolest place you have traveled to and/or want to travel to? My favorite place that I have visited recently is Jamaica. The people are so friendly, the country is beautiful and the food is great. I hope to go again soon!

What is your favorite thing to do in Richmond? Eat and drink!!  So many amazing restaurants to try and so many new micro-breweries. We live in a great time in a great place!

If you could eat just one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? I cannot even imagine one meal for the rest of my life! I love exploring and trying new foods. I would hate to think that I have already had my favorite meal as that would mean all future experiences would be disappointing! So I guess I am still in pursuit of that “one meal”.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? I don’t know what to call it but my superpower would be to allow all dogs to have a loving home and that no dogs would be abused or alone. Rescue dogs are the best!! Paw power!!
