August 20, 2015

FeedMore recently received an $8,600 grant from The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic efforts for UPS. The grant will be used towards supporting the cost of packaging meals for FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels program.

“We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the community and corporate partners like The UPS Foundation,” said Mary Penet, Director of Senior Feeding for FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels program. “In addition to providing reliable, nutritious meals to the folks who need it most, we have also been able to reduce isolation and provide our clients with that important safety check that makes what we do extend far beyond a meal.”

Since the program began in 1967, when it served just eight clients, FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels has grown significantly and today serves an average of 700 clients across 14 localities throughout Central Virginia. Providing more than 295,000 meals annually to 1,532 homebound individuals who have no reliable means for maintaining a healthy diet, FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels program caters to 14 different therapeutic diets based on specific client’s needs.

“The UPS Foundation is honored to support FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels program’s effort to provide nutritious meals to homebound individuals,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation. “Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community.”
