As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, our hearts are filled with gratitude and hope. Our volunteers play a vital role in what goes on behind the scenes here at Feed More to nourish our neighbors who face hunger.
Last year, 1,630 individuals donated 68,564 hours to our mission and 492 groups gave 74,5050 hours to help their neighbors in need! The generosity of our volunteers is simply incredible and we continue to be humbled, and inspired, by their support.
While many of our committed, passionate volunteers have had to take a necessary break from their service, we have been touched by the ways they continue to support us. One of our long-time Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers recently made a donation and shared this heartfelt sentiment with us:
“As a 70-year-old volunteer for Meals on Wheels, I can’t do my regular route. This financial contribution appears to be the best way I can contribute to Feed More’s ongoing activities that in today’s world are needed more than ever.”
A record number of new volunteers have stepped up and stepped in to help meet the increasing need we are seeing across our service area. From college students to individuals who have been furloughed, we have welcomed more than 300 individuals to our volunteer team in the last month!
Together, our new and veteran volunteers have helped us adapt, remain safe and keep going amid uncertainty.
It has been said that “one of the greatest gifts you can give is your time” and we couldn’t agree more. Many thanks to all the compassionate individuals who have given so much of themselves to our mission and the neighbors we help!
