Kroger Mid-Atlantic Donates $40,000 to Feed More’s Agency Network


Today, Kroger Mid-Atlantic presented nine of Feed More’s Agency Network members with grants to obtain critically needed resources that will strengthen programming and expand outreach to people struggling with hunger throughout Central Virginia. Kroger made a combined donation of $40,000 to the hunger-relief community organizations and nonprofits through its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.

This is the second consecutive year that Kroger has given such a donation to Feed More’s Agency Network for capacity building. Feed More’s Agency Network includes other non-profit organizations that help the food bank extend its reach and positively impact more people struggling with hunger across Central Virginia.

The funding helps the nine groups purchase much-needed items like freezer units, storage and supplies for a fresh garden project. Like many hunger-related organization, Feed More’s agencies have seen an uptick in need since March due to the economic effects of the pandemic.

“The members of our Agency Network are on the frontlines of fighting hunger and we’ve been inspired by their resilience, flexibility and dedication during these unprecedented times,” said Doug Pick, president and chief executive officer at Feed More. “We’re grateful to have compassionate and generous partners like Kroger who remain committed, now more than ever, to fighting hunger in the communities they serve. This grant will help our agencies strengthen and grow their operations to help even more of our neighbors in their times of need.”

The agencies receiving funding for requested items include:

  • Cornerstone of Deliverance (Kenbridge)
  • CornerStone Community Development Center (Aylett)
  • First Union Pantry (Richmond)
  • Goochland Cares (Goochland)
  • Healthy Hearts Plus (Richmond)
  • Mount Olive Outreach (Glen Allen)
  • Tabernacle Baptist Church (Richmond)
  • The St. Paul’s Baptist Church (Henrico)
  • Word, Spirit, & Life Ministries (Chester)

“We’re honored that we can step in to support Feed More’s agency partners in a meaningful way for the second year in a row,” said Allison McGee, corporate affairs manager for Kroger Mid-Atlantic. “This funding will help organizations operate more effectively and reach more people facing hunger.”
