Food Bank Programs

In order to effectively fight local hunger, FeedMore's comprehensive programs and network of more than 300 partner agencies distributes healthy food to Central Virginians in need. Our food distribution efforts include the Food Distribution Center, Partner Agency Network, the Hunger Hotline, the Mobile Pantry Program, the USDA/TEFAP Program, and Children’s Nutrition Programs. To ensure wide and targeted hunger relief to neighbors who face hunger across our 34 city and county service area, our Partner Agency Network includes hundreds of nonprofit, faith-based, governmental, community organizations and other private programs to get food directly to people in need.

Our food acquisition efforts include working with industry groups, individual donors, community gardens, and other supporters to obtain donated products and to purchase additional needed foods. Food Donor, Purchasing, and Produce initiatives complement the results obtained from Food and Fund Drives. One of the major efforts to secure usable food is our Retail Recovery Program, which allows local grocers and suppliers to help fight hunger and the war on food waste by contributing—rather than throwing out—food that is still usable but no longer available for sale.
