Quotes: “Food Lion Feeds is proud to support the Stamp Out Hunger campaign in Richmond,” said Frankie Marshburn, Food Lion’s director of operations for the Richmond area. “By donating the first 10,000 meals, we hope our customers in the Richmond community will help us support the campaign by leaving bags of non-perishable items out by their mailboxes for our local postal workers to collect tomorrow. At Food Lion, we believe no one should have to choose between dinner and rent or gasoline and buying groceries. We truly believe campaigns like Stamp Out Hunger make a lasting impact to help eliminate these tough choices for those struggling with hunger here in our community.” “The amount of nonperishable items collected during the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is quite remarkable and so very needed, especially as we enter the summer months where historically food donations are a bit lower,” said Tim McDermott, Chief Development Officer at FeedMore. “In addition to helping us keep the shelves of our Distribution Center stocked, this annual food drive also provides individuals across our community with the opportunity to join the fight against hunger without even leaving their home.” “As letter carriers, we are honored to be able to help people in need,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said. “On a daily basis we see the struggles in the communities we serve, and we believe it’s important to do what we can to help.”
