The food distribution program is a vital hunger relief collaboration between hundreds of feeding partners and the Food Bank’s central food Distribution Center (DC). On weekdays and one Saturday per month, our feeding partners come from 31 counties and five cities throughout Central Virginia to obtain the food most needed back in the localities they serve. Partner agencies include non-profit feeding programs, child and adult care centers, homeless shelters, and emergency pantries.
The distribution center is housed in a 38,000-square-foot warehouse facility at FeedMore’s Rhoadmiller Street location in Richmond. An average of nearly 70,000 pounds of food arrives at and departs from the DC every day. By becoming part of this vast feeding network, organizations can receive greater quantities of food and grocery products—and have greater flexibility to acquire the specific types of food most needed—than they could obtain on their own.
