Summer Food Service Program


When most people think of summer, thoughts of barbeques, the beach, corn on the cob, vacation, ice cream and relaxation come to mind. However, for our area’s hungry children, this is anything but the case.

With thousands of children receiving free or reduced lunch, when school ends, so do these vital programs. And their impact can be felt across our community. However, there are places children can turn to during the hungry days of summer.

FeedMore’s Summer Food Service Program is a major effort to ensure that thousands of children at risk of hunger receive healthy and reliable breakfast and lunch meals, free of charge, during these critical weeks. In fiscal year 2016, we provided 134,478 breakfast and lunch meals to 1,704 children at 58 sites across our region through this program.

The Summer Food Service Program is open to children 18 years and younger.

Acceptance and participation requirements for the Program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability amnd there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.  To file a complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form (AD-03027), found online at http://www.ascr.usda.giv/complaint_filing_cust.html and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.  To request a copy of the complain form, call (866) 632-9992.  Submit your completed form or letter to USDA by (1) Mail:   USDA, Director, Office of ther Assitant Secretary for Civil Rights, 1400 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20250-9410; (2) Fax: (202) 690-7442 or; (3) email: program.intake@usda.gov.
