Feed More’s Hunger Hotline was designed to help individuals who are in need of emergency food assistance. Anyone can call our hotline and be connected with a local Feed More agency or food source and other important programs they need. In addition to giving about 400 referrals each month, the team also responds to online requests and speaks with walk-ins who are in need of immediate food assistance.
Our trained team of staff and 30 rotating volunteers can refer callers to Feed More programs that may be a good fit for their needs, like Meals on Wheels and our Mobile Pantry. The Hunger Hotline team also uses our Network of Agencies to connect callers with food pantries that are in close proximity to where they’re located, so they can get food right away. Our team also refers neighbors in need to programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) to help them get access to food on a more regular basis.
While food referral is the primary purpose of Feed More’s Hunger Hotline, our team can also connect callers with other services like emergency shelters, clothing closets, employment assistance programs and healthcare organizations.
“The Hunger Hotline is such a vital part of the Feed More organization,” shares Sydney Orgel, Client Resource Coordinator at Feed More. “It has been an amazing tool in helping neighbors throughout our community find services that will help improve their lives and the lives of their family.”
