Feed More collects, prepares and distributes food to neighbors in need. With a service area that stretches across 34 cities and counties, our comprehensive programs and Agency Network are dedicated to providing our communities with access to quality food and healthy meals year round.

We’re looking for:

In this newly created position, we are seeking an outgoing communicator that is intent to make a difference in the community by collaborating and engaging in efforts to build and foster relationships and program development between the healthcare community, health organizations, Feed More and its partner agency network, and ultimately connecting anyone who is food insecure in Central Virginia to health and nutrition services as well as healthy food. 

This dynamic public health professional must be skilled in relationship building, communication and strategic thinking. Strong applicants will have demonstrated experience communicating with diverse audiences and utilizing data to improve health policies and programming. Candidates must also exhibit a commitment to embedding our neighbors at the center of our work and implementing client-centered practices.

FLSA Status: Full-time Salaried Exempt

What you’ll do:

Research best practices with other foodbanks and organizations to make recommendations on how to expand current programs, find new ways to reach individuals on government assistance programs, and work collaboratively with senior leaders to offer ideas for new  strategies to improve health outcomes for the food insecure in our service area.

Build and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships with healthcare providers and organizations.

Direct supervisor responsibility for Client Services team which includes Hunger Hotline, Client Referrals and Healthy Pantries

Deliver education presentations to health organizations and providers about the relationship between food security, nutrition, and health.

Identify programming that will have a positive impact on both health outcomes and food security.

Develop a deep understanding of Central Virginia geographies, underserved communities, and be able to use social determinates of health data to guide strategies for Feed More programs to fill any food insecurity gaps in the population we serve.

Educate health partners and promote the importance of screening for food security.

Identify opportunities within health care sector to increase access to nutritious food for patients identified as food insecure.

Promote and oversee partnerships with healthcare providers and organizations such as the VCU Health System Program and Bon Secours/Mercy.

Carry out or collaborate on program strategies, evaluating efficiencies, impact, and potential for replication across the areas we serve.

Create and/or provide resource materials, training, and support to Feed More partner agencies regarding partnering with health care providers in their community.

Collaborate with Marketing, Development and HR to grow health care partnerships in giving, volunteering, and executing on our mission.

Collaborate with Operations on all aspects of nutritional planning, programming, and execution of partnership opportunities.

Leverage technology to improve access and availability of nutritious food and food bank programming

Must have:

Bachelor’s Degree: health education, public health, or social services or other related program

Master’s Degree in health education, public health or social services preferred

The ability to think strategically and develop strategies and models

The ability to lead, coach and develop team members

Experience and commitment to serving underserved individuals and families

Knowledge of health care industry, food assistance programs, hunger issues, and/or experience with social service agencies preferred

Must be strong independent worker as well as be able to work as a partner of a team

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and collaboration skills

Excellent organizational skills and project management experience

Experience at data collection and analysis is required

Ability to use research and data to develop and create strategies

Ability to make presentations and develop reports that includes data and technical information

Proven competencies in Microsoft Office products, including internet, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

Excellent training and/or facilitation skills

Excellent customer-service skills and friendly with others

Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

Travel required within counties served by Feed More on a regular basis and outside our serving area when required

Fluency in English, and Spanish a plus
