Brrr…it’s cold outside!

12/27/2018

When it’s this cold, it’s important to keep your senior family members and homebound neighbors in mind. If you’re able, please take a few minutes to check in on them and make sure they are staying warm and comfortable during these cold months.

This time of year can be particularly difficult for our senior and homebound neighbors, as many can feel even more isolated during the winter months.

In Virginia, there are as many as 380,000 seniors living alone. By taking a few minutes out of your day to stop by, you can significantly reduce their feelings of isolation and put a smile on their face.

It can also be hard when bad weather hits and they need to shovel their walkway or driveway. So whether it’s sharing a cup of coffee, grabbing your shovel or just knocking on the door to say a quick hello, your thoughtfulness can make a huge difference in the well-being of your senior and homebound neighbors.

If you’d like to volunteer with our Meals on Wheels program and make a direct impact on helping homebound seniors, please contact our Volunteer Department.
