RICHMOND, VA- Vulcan Materials Company’s annual “Take Aim at Hunger Sporting Clays Tournament” which took place on Tuesday, May 9 at Old Forge Sporting Clays in Providence Forge, VA. raised over $40,000 for FeedMore, Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization.

This is the fourth year Vulcan’s Mideast Division has been hosting this tournament to benefit FeedMore and was by far the largest yet. Over 100 participants “Took Aim” in the shooting competition. There were also more than 25 company sponsors that helped produce the events held Tuesday in Virginia and the sister event event in North Carolina.

This year’s proceeds will help FeedMore to provide more than 107,000 healthy meals to neighbors who struggle with hunger across their 34 city and county service area. Since 2011, Vulcan’s support will have helped FeedMore provide more than 300,000 nutritious meals through their partner agencies and programs.

“We are grateful to have partners like Vulcan Materials Company standing beside us in the fight against hunger,” said Tim McDermott, Chief Development Officer at FeedMore. “Vulcan is guided by principles that include high respect for people – their dignity, values, and interests. As a backbone nonprofit for Central Virginia, we also respect the nearly 200,000 children, families, and seniors who struggle with hunger and strive each day to enable them to retain their dignity, values, and interests. This is only possible with the support from Vulcan and over 20,000 FeedMore volunteer and philanthropic supporters.”

Commenting on this year’s events, Martin Thorpe, president of Mideast Division, noted “We are extremely pleased by the support from our employees, customers and friends for such a worthy cause.
