This month at Feed More: November 2019
November is finally feeling like fall and we can’t get enough! Cue the warm beverages, scarves and boots because this month is full of amazing events for the whole community to enjoy and benefit Feed More!
M4K Richmond is an amazing event that comes around every November. Dedicated to improving the lives of local children, hundreds of men across the greater Richmond community embark on a month-long journey known as The Growing Season. Participants sprout a sweet mustache to raise money for local children’s charities, including The Children’s Hospital Foundation, Greater Richmond SCAN, ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, The Foundation Center of Commonwealth Autism and Feed More, and to date, they have donated more than $1 million to Richmond-based charities!
Scouting for Food to Feed Richmond combines two of our annual food drives to pack an even bigger punch! On Saturday, November 16, look for a bag left at your door from the Boy Scouts, who will return on Saturday, November 23 to pick up your bag filled of nonperishable donations. From November 21-23, Summit Media Group (K95, Classic 96.5 and 103.7 Play) will also be broadcasting live at three area Kroger stores collecting food and funds for Feed More. This event is sponsored by Kroger and we’re so grateful for their continued support!
Join us on Friday, November 22 at The Broadberry for a tribute show to the beloved concert film of the final show from The Band’s The Last Waltz. Proceeds from this concert benefit our hunger-fighting operations.
Turkeys in the Trunk, hosted by Euroclassics Porsche and sponsored by the First Settlers and Shenandoah Region Porsche Club of America, takes place on Saturday, November 23 from 11a.m. – 12 p.m. Come by and drop off a turkey or cash donation to benefit Feed More!
On Thanksgiving morning, the Richmond Road Runners Club and race sponsor Wegmans will host the 42nd running of Richmond’s Turkey Trot 10K! Plan to join us for a challenging 10K road race and the kids’ fun run in and around the University of Richmond. This running-in-Richmond tradition regularly sells out its limit of 1,600 participants, and organizers will be collecting peanut butter and tuna (two of our most wanted items) to help us feed more! Runners will also be able to make monetary donations to support our mission.
Get your heart rate up and burn some calories for this year’s Salisbury Turkey Waddle 5K and 1.6K run/walk route on Thanksgiving morning! Participants are encouraged to bring a canned good or two to help Feed More, Shalom Farms and local feeding ministries.
If you’re not able to make it out to an event this month but are still interested in helping, please visit our Other Ways to Give page or consider becoming a Community Champion by hosting an online fundraiser!
Be sure to continue looking at Feed More’s events page for updates and added events each month!
You can also organize a food drive and collect some of our most needed items to help our neighbors in need. Head on over to our Food Drive page to learn more and check out our toolkit that will help you spread the word!
Hunger is a year round issue and with your support, we’re able to provide families in need with a hand up all year long.
