2018 was another banner year for one of our favorite events- Scouting for Food! Now in its 31st year, Scouting for Food is one of Feed More’s annual food drives coordinated by our friends at the Heart of Virginia Council for the Boy Scouts.
Boy Scout troops set out across our service area this past October distributing paper bags provided by Kroger that households filled with nonperishable food items. Those bags and countless others that were brought to Kroger stores throughout the Richmond community were picked up a few days later and brought back to Feed More.
We are thrilled to report that 130,156 pounds of food was collected this past fall! All of those amazing donations have been distributed throughout our many programs, and will go to help feed our neighbors in need in Central Virginia.
We at Feed More continue to be amazed and humbled by the generosity of our community, and we can’t thank the Boy Scouts enough for making Scouting for Food such a beloved tradition and successful food drive!
