Today, Kroger Mid-Atlantic presented 15 members of Feed More’s Agency Network with grants to obtain critically needed resources that will strengthen programming and expand outreach to people struggling with hunger throughout Central Virginia. Kroger made a combined donation of $40,000 to the hunger-relief community organizations and nonprofits through its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.
Feed More’s Agency Network includes organizations that help Feed More extend its reach and positively impact more people struggling with hunger across Central Virginia. The funding helps the 15 nonprofit organizations purchase much-needed items like freezer units, laptops, electrical work and signage.
“We’re proud to support the important work of Feed More and its agencies to eliminate hunger in our communities,” said Allison McGee, corporate affairs manager for Kroger Mid-Atlantic. “This funding will help organizations operate more effectively and reach more people facing hunger.”
Kroger works with Feed More year-round to identify needs and areas where the food bank could use support. Several months ago, Feed More shared requests from the 15 agency members in the region that most needed assistance, and Kroger quickly stepped in to help.
“The members of our Agency Network are critical to helping Feed More fight hunger across our 34 county and city service area,” said Doug Pick, president and chief executive officer at Feed More. “Kroger understands the complexity and vastness of hunger in Central Virginia and this generous grant will directly support the members of our Agency Network and help ensure we continue to be here for our neighbors when they need us most. We are most grateful for this significant and timely support.”

Last year, Kroger donated a new $120,000 refrigerated box truck to expand Feed More’s Mobile Pantry program. Kroger donates funds throughout the year and provides hundreds of thousands of pounds of food through its perishable donations program.
