Give back a little bit of love.

Give back a little bit of love by making Valentine’s Day cards for the senior and homebound neighbors in our Meals on Wheels program.

One of our most well-known programs, Meals on Wheels has been in the Central Virginia community for over 50 years. Each weekday, our volunteers hand deliver delicious and nutritious meals to more than 800 homebound neighbors. While the meals our Bayard Community Kitchen creates from scratch are a large part of this program, our community helps us provide so much more than a meal.

To help lift the spirits of our clients, the Meals on Wheels team collects and distributes hand-made cards to our clients. From winter holidays to Valentine’s Day and birthdays, the cards are filled with loving and uplifting messages from members of the community. Volunteer drivers hand them out when delivering meals and it truly means the world to our clients. Often, the cards are found on their refrigerators and walls because they cherish them like they are from their own family.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we are asking the community to help us make the day of our Meals on Wheels clients by creating cards for them. It is a fun and wonderful way to give back to your community!

If you’re interested in creating Valentine’s Day cards, here are some guidelines to get you started:

  • Cards should include uplifting messages and/or pictures.
  • Please no religious content or pictures should be included.
  • Sign your card(s) from ‘Your friends at Feed More’s Meals on Wheels.’
  • Most importantly, have fun and be creative!

To be sure your card makes into the hands of our clients in time, please drop off your cards at Feed More by Friday, February 7. There will be a box in our main lobby area.

We can’t wait to see how you give back a little bit of love with your beautiful creations and spread the love to your neighbors in need!
