FeedMore Food Bank and Local Food Lion Volunteers to Remodel Harvest Food Pantry

09/08/2016

What: Local Food Lion Associates will renovate Harvest Food Pantry to bring awareness to Hunger Action Month through the company’s “Great Pantry Makeover” event. FeedMore nominated Harvest Food Pantry to help them continue to end hunger in Goochland, Va., and serve residents throughout the area who struggle with food insecurity.

Their story shows how tight knit the philanthropic community is in Virginia, as the original food pantry makeover recipient, Hopewell Food Pantry, gave the donation opportunity to Harvest Food Pantry. After recently receiving a generous donation, Hopewell Food Pantry knew there was a feeding organization who needed Food Lion’s help more.

Because of their decision to pay it forward, Hopewell Food Pantry and Harvest Food Pantry will receive a donation of more than 10,000 meals each. Additionally, Harvest Food Pantry will receive a new freezer, electrical upgrades, new paint and flooring at tomorrow’s event. This make over is part of Food Lion Feeds’ “Great Pantry Makeover” campaign where the grocer will remodel and stock the shelves of more than 30 local food pantries in 30 days across its 10-state footprint.
