Name:  Laura Monfalcone Kuipers

What do you do here at Feed More?  I am the Meals on Wheels Client Services Assistant – I make sure the labels and reports for the meals print daily and that all the numbers are correct. I handle communications with clients, including phone calls, menus, flyers, surveys and educational information. I also oversee the administrative volunteers who help enter data into our system and serve on the Feed More safety committee.

How long have you worked at Feed More? A year and a half

What is your favorite memory at Feed More? Last year I was able to take my daughter and husband on a route with me to deliver meals right before Christmas. I loved being able to share what I do every day with my family and getting to meet some of the people I talk to all the time. Our clients are so appreciative of what we do and seeing it in person brings home the reason I do my job- to make a difference.

What inspired you to come work at Feed More?  Helping people is my gift and passion. My father retired from a non-profit company and I always admired him for having a job where he helped others. When I found this job I was so excited because I would be able to follow in his footsteps and do what I love to do, help others and truly make a difference.

Before working at Feed More, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had? I worked at a local winery as an ABC Manager. I conducted wine tastings, gave tours, ran on-site events like weddings and trained volunteers.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I love to coordinate special events, especially weddings. I love making all the chaos come together to be the bride and groom’s best day ever!

Where is the coolest place you have traveled to and/or want to travel to? My favorite place is Long Boat Key, Florida. It is where I got engaged and I also got married there in July 2018. I would love to travel to Europe, especially London and Italy.

What is your favorite thing to do in Richmond?  Go to the festivals. There is a festival for almost every culture and holiday. I love being able to experience and learn about all of them. I especially enjoy the ethnic food and music.

If you could eat just one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Hands down spaghetti- my family is Italian and growing up we had spaghetti at least once a week.  I have never gotten tired of it and I love making my own sauce from scratch just like my parents used to do.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? I would choose the power of mimicry- this way I could absorb or copy someone else’s powers depending on what I needed at that moment.
